Good Will Toward Earth and Peace to All

I have revised an old Christmas salutation.
It needs an update in salvation.

Wishing the world well, while our planet's health
is going to hell,
that's a hard sell...

Urgency now is a daily emergency...

The Permafrost in the Arctic region is melting fast,
releasing more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
Still more frightening, it's releasing diseases that
have been buried underground for thousands of years!
Bubonic Plague, Smallpox, Spanish Flu, to name a few!

After several years of sustained improvement in air quality, air pollution worsened in 2017 - 2018.  In 2018 alone, eroding air quality was linked to 10, 000 deaths in the U.S..
Wild fires in California, climate change driven, are in the numbers too.  But the king of climate denial has also relaxed enforcement of Clean Air regulations and will soon be gutting them too.

By the year 2050,if current trends continue, we could have more plastic than fish in the oceans .
There is already evidence that fish, even tiny plankton, are eating/absorbing plastic pieces.  Yummy!
Have a little shrimp with your plastic.

Enough bad tidings...

As we approach the shortest, darkest day of
the year, I'm reminded, sometimes the darkest
dark comes before the brightest light...

Hope and help is on the way...

Most Americans
increasingly believe that climate change is a crisis.

The Green Industry has launched and it's growing fast.
In Iowa, wind and solar contribute almost 40% to their energy output.  And good paying jobs are also growing with the manufacture and operation of this equipment.

And I would be remiss if I omitted this, Time Magazine's Person of the Year - 2019;  Climate activist, Greta Thunberg

She crossed an ocean to deliver a scolding, urgent
message, and a call to the world...

Her fierce conviction, her strength of spirit is
unmatched.  She's a little angry, and rightly so.

She and the youth of the world are going to hold
us accountable.

So let's strengthen our resolve like never before!
And let Greta get back to school.

As I close this post, this long Christmas card,
I hear an update of an old Christmas carol,

"Hark the herald, let our better angels sing,

All ye nations rise,

Time to restore heaven to earth
To recover our first mission,
To Eden-ize the Earth

On Earth as it is in Heaven
