The Summoning of a Summer Day
A golden light beam
struck me between the eyes
woke me with great surprise
Brother Sun surely knew
it was my time too
to rise, to shine,
on this long awaited day
I sprang from my bed,
raced to the window,
to fling it wide open,
to behold
the sun lit up the oak in vibrant green
each leaf an ornament in lustrous sheen
Birds singing hymns that soared to the heavens
Cumulus clouds shining in the purest,
pristine white, so bright, proclaiming
this day will bring the fairest weather
Bewitched, my mind transfixed
on a crystal clear day
It is the call of Summer’s first day—
